The Red Tail Hawk

Connie Kelts

A wanderer by nature, my art reflects my passion. Wild places and the wonders of nature are my inspiration. My unconventional history has molded me into what I am today.

Hawks are often seen as a symbol of power in Native American cultures. Like eagles, they are symbols of courage and strength. In some tribes, such as the Cheyenne, hawks are associated with protection from enemies, and seeing or dreaming about a hawk can be seen as a warning of danger.

Fierce defenders of their chicks, taking pictures of the nest and the chicks can be dangerous. When mama looks you straight in the eye you better back off because she will let you know when your to close. I never tire of watchin them soar. The Red Tail is a magnificent animal and I never tire of  trying for that perfect image that defines their most impressive traits.
