Elephants Song

Copyright Connie Kelts 2017

Elephants have their own special magic. While I have never seen one in the wild it is my hope they remain in their natural habitats for generations to come. I suppose this in a way is my form of protesting the current law under consideration that would allow ivory imports to the United States. I understand that a certain amount of commercial hunting if controlled properly can be a benefit to the native populations and boost to local economy’s. However by legalizing the importing of ivory could have a negative side effect, an explosion of the already active poaching of any animal who has the unfortunate fate of being ivory bearing. This is my greatest fear. Please stand up for the Elephants. While the new law is currently on hold please stay current with the issue and let Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke know how you feel about the issue.
